What a star is
A star (신살, sinsal) is a pattern: a specific branch appearing in your chart relative to your Day Master or your year and day branches. Classical texts list dozens; most practitioners rely on a handful. Our reading checks five that are well-attested and useful.
The five we read
Noble Helper (天乙貴人) — the most favored star. Help arrives in hard moments; people appear when you need them. Determined by your Day Master.
Scholar's Star (文昌貴人) — writing, study and creative work turn into a career rather than staying a hobby. Also determined by your Day Master.
Traveling Horse (驛馬) — movement, relocation, and growth through change. Found through your year and day branches.
Peach Blossom (桃花) — charm and attraction; people are drawn to you. Read today as social magnetism rather than scandal.
General's Star (將星) — standing at the center; leadership comes naturally. Common in performers and captains.
How to use them
Stars describe where an advantage lives, not a guarantee. A Scholar's Star in the day pillar suggests that writing or study is close to your identity; whether it becomes a career depends on the rest of the chart and on you. A chart with none of the five is not unlucky — its strength comes from structure rather than fortunate placements.
